Information for Contributors to the Psychology Department
Monetary Donations:
There are a number of departmental funds to which contributors can target monetary donations. Currently, the Psychology Department's goal is to encourage contributions to the Developmental Fund, individual Program Funds, general Scholarships Fund, and General Fund. Donations in any amount will be appreciated.
Special Purpose Funds:
Psychology Developmental Fund (Account R4503)
This is used to provide limited funds for undergraduate student travel to conferences and conventions, such as the Great Plains Student Research Convention. This has also provided partial travel support for our masters' students in the Clinical, I/O, and Experimental tracks.
Psychology Department General Fund (Account R4501)
This is used for purchase of special research or instructional equipment, funding for guest speakers, equipment repair, and emergency needs that may present themselves.
Program Funds:
Each major discipline/program in Psychology has its own fund. Monies in these funds can be used for student travel and for research support. The three program funds are listed below.
Psi Chi / Psychology Club / Experimental Psychology Fund
Please designate the donation for Missouri State University Psychology-Experimental.
Industrial/Organizational Psychology Fund
Please designate the donation for Missouri State University Psychology-Industrial/Organizational.
Clinical Psychology Fund:
Please designate the donation for Missouri State University Psychology-Clinical.
Scholarship Funds:
Psychology Department Scholarships Fund (Account R4541)
One of our goals is to endow several more scholarships. Currently, there are four scholarship funds that are designated specifically for Psychology students. These are listed below.
Bryan Schowengerdt Memorial Scholarship Fund
The recipient of this scholarship must be a full-time student, a psychology major, and of sophomore or higher standing. Preference is given to a Missouri resident from the Bates County.
Richard and Virginia Wilkinson Scholarship Fund
The recipient of this scholarship must be a full-time senior Psychology major. The recipient must be interested in Ph.D.-level study and research directed towards applying psychology to various human needs, not including Clinical Psychology.
Marion Stephens Memorial Fund
This is in honor of Dr. Marion Stephens.
Larry and Meredith Bass Memorial Scholarship Fund
This is in honor of Dr. Larry Bass and his wife, Meredith.
Please contact Dr. Fred Maxwell at (417) 836-5797 if you desire to make a larger donation in order to establish a fund or scholarship in your own name or in memory of another individual.
Donations of Scientific Equipment:
Usable equipment and supplies can go a long way in supporting educational programs and faculty and student research in the Psychology Department. If you are in a position to suggest or control the donation of scientific equipment to the Psychology Department please contact Dr. Fred Maxwell, Psychology Department Head at (417) 836-5797 to determine if such equipment can be used.
