Program Admission Requirements

Follow your passion for psychology

To begin course work in the field of psychology, you initially need to be admitted to Missouri State. Before completing 75 credit hours, you must also be admitted to a degree program.

You may apply to the psychology degree program if you have completed at least 30 credit hours. These hours must include the following basic required courses: GEP 101, Computers for Learning, COM 115, ENG 110, MTH 130 or higher, and KIN 100. Admission to the psychology degree program also requires completion of PSY 150 (Introduction to the Psychology Major).

Admission to a psychology degree program establishes the catalog year for a student majoring in psychology. The process of being admitted to a degree program begins after the fifth week of classes each semester.

Declaring a psychology major or minor

To declare or change a major or minor to psychology, students should:

  1. Visit the Academic Advisement Center (University Hall 109) or the Office of the Registrar (Carrington 320) to declare or change a major or minor.
