Tips for success

  • A minor or second major is required for the psychology major. Minors typically require 18-24 credit hours. You will learn more about selecting a minor in PSY 150. Meet with an advisor in the department of your minor to schedule courses for the minor.
  • PSY 150 may be taken either semester of the first year.
  • No application is needed for admission to the psychology degree program. The psychology department will admit pre-majors to the degree program upon successful completion of PSY 150.
  • PSY 101, 380, 385 and 390 do not count toward the major or minor in psychology.
  • Total of 120 completed hours necessary for graduation.
  • For students planning to go on for graduate study, PSY 490 may be a good addition.
  • There is also a non-comprehensive Bachelor of Arts degree option for this major. See your advisor for more information.
  • Involvement in Psychology Club/Psi Chi will help you learn more about the major, field and our department.
